CASE STUDY: Run Athletics Clothing Line

TASK: Run Athletics is a prominent apparel brand co-owned by rap group Run-DMC, Def Jam records and clothing company Phat Fashions. The client wanted to convey an unconventional brand message of selflessness and humility inside the hip-hop/urban subculture where personality-driven ads are the rule.

SOLUTION: Chad Brown submitted 50 concepts to Run Athletics, and a bold, single-page ad was run in the Spring 2004 editions of Vibe, Slam, DNR, The AVE, Drill, and XXL magazines. Its clean composition stands in stark contrast to the other ads in these publications. The client was very satisfied with the results.
