Canyon Communications Celebrates Opening of New “Green” Office
Mesa, Ariz. – Canyon Communications, a Mesa-based marketing communications firm recently moved into a new “enviro-ergonomic” office. This new space, located on the Southeast corner of Val Vista Drive and US 60 in Mesa, is designed with ergonomics, creativity and “green” building techniques in mind.
“As creative thinkers, we need an environment that is conducive to creativity,” said Nancy Landl, president, Canyon Communications. “We’ve consciously built a functional space with ergonomics and environmental considerations at the core of our design.”
Roomy, open air spaces and plenty of flowing architectural features are found in the new workplace. The office also boasts ample use of slate, glass, stone and soothing paint colors. It even has many of the latest technologies, everything from a movable multi-media display to a Wii video game system, allowing staff and guests to exercise or take a break.
The many ergonomic considerations implemented make the office comfortable and in-sync with the way people work. For example, the office includes multi-adjustable seating for workers and guests; height-adjustable desks and chairs for designers, allowing them sit, stand or anything in between; and multiple collaboration areas where teams can gather comfortably for brainstorming and small meetings. There’s even an outdoor covered courtyard with seating for alfresco gatherings.
Owners Nancy Landl and Gary Greuel also implemented “green” building techniques whenever possible. The construction maintained 95 percent of existing structure, incorporated carpet with recycled materials, and existing furniture was re-used to reduce the demand for new materials. The owners also installed all Energy Star® appliances, maximized natural light and complemented it with florescent lighting that is directed both downward and upward for optimal reflection. Best of all, 90 percent of regularly occupied spaces have outdoor views.
Canyon’s new space is also located within walking distance of numerous basic services such as a grocery store, bank, day care center, dry cleaner, pharmacy, medical and dental facilities, and 18 restaurants, as well as being adjacent to housing complexes so employees can reduce travel.
